Our firm's real estate practice includes representation of lending institutions, developers, principals, investors, mezzanine funds, opportunity funds, REITS, joint venturers, landlords and tenants in diverse real estate transactions throughout the United States and internationally.

Our real estate attorneys have considerable experience in acquisitions and sales of various types of real estate, including office, industrial, manufacturing and multi-family residential buildings, shopping centers, transferable development rights and air rights, hotel properties and vacant land. We also handle all kinds of taxable and tax-exempt financing transactions and debt acquisitions, including bridge loans, wrap financings, construction financings, revolving credit facilities, sale-leasebacks, leasehold mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, housing and industrial development bonds, and participating equity mortgages. Our practice also includes real estate workouts and foreclosures, and advising clients on strategies for handling distressed real estate.

We represent owners, managers and tenants in connection with all types of leasing and subleasing transactions (including ground and net leasing) for office buildings, shopping and convention centers, manufacturing, warehouse and retail facilities, and nursing home and other healthcare facilities. We have handled real estate syndications, securitizations, architect and construction agreements, management and brokerage contracts, and condominium and cooperative housing transactions from the perspective of both unit owners and developers (including the preparation and filing of offering plans and representation of cooperative and condominium boards as general counsel and in workouts). Our real estate group also renders advice on the real property and environmental aspects of corporate acquisitions and divestitures, as well as on regulatory compliance and real estate-related litigation. We have also handled a number of overseas real estate leasing and other transactions for our clients.

Our firm has obtained approvals of rezonings, special permits, variances and developments involving landmarks for commercial and not-for-profit residential, office, retail and mixed use projects. We have provided zoning assistance on a national basis for a high profile e-commerce business and negotiated government-sponsored economic incentive packages.

Our firm has had extensive workout and foreclosure experience with defaulted commercial real estate loans. Our real estate, litigation and bankruptcy attorneys have often worked together to develop creative ways to rescue commercial real estate assets in distress.
